Custom Blended Knitwear OEM/ODM

Custom Blended Knitwear Development

Blended yarns combine two or more fiber types within a single yarn composition, giving fashion brands greater flexibility when developing knitwear for different hand feels, garment weights, appearances and target price points.

AprilSu supports custom blended knitwear OEM/ODM development for sweaters, cardigans, knitted tops, dresses and accessories. Projects can be developed from a tech pack, reference sample or initial concept, covering yarn selection, gauge planning, knit structure, sampling, specialty techniques and bulk production coordination.

Blended Yarn Options

Different fiber combinations can be selected according to the design and required garment characteristics.

Common development options can include:

  • Wool blends
  • Merino wool blends
  • Cashmere blends
  • Cotton blends
  • Natural and synthetic fiber blends
  • Multi-fiber blended yarns

Depending on yarn availability and project requirements, fibers such as wool, Merino wool, cashmere, cotton, polyester, nylon or other suitable fibers can be combined in different proportions.

The exact composition should be confirmed during yarn selection rather than assuming that one blend is suitable for every knitwear design.

How Does Yarn Composition Affect Blended Knitwear?

Changing the fiber ratio can change the appearance and behavior of a knitted garment.

For example, yarn composition can influence:

  • Hand feel and surface texture
  • Garment weight
  • Drape and structure
  • Stretch and recovery
  • Knit definition
  • Care requirements
  • Material cost

However, fiber composition is only one part of knitwear development. Yarn count, knitting gauge, stitch structure and finishing can also significantly affect the final garment.

For this reason, blended yarn selection should be evaluated together with the intended design rather than based only on the fiber percentages.

Gauge & Knit Structure Development

Blended yarns can be developed across different knitting gauges depending on yarn count, composition and the required garment appearance.

Our knitwear development capabilities include 3GG, 5GG, 7GG, 12GG and 14GG.

Depending on the selected yarn and design, knit structures can include:

  • Jersey and rib structures
  • Cable and textured stitches
  • Jacquard
  • Intarsia
  • Pointelle and openwork
  • Other custom knit structures

A wool-blend cable sweater, for example, may require a different yarn count and gauge from a lightweight cotton-blend knitted top. Sampling is used to evaluate how the selected yarn works with the intended structure.

Custom Blended Knitwear Options

OEM/ODM development can include:

  • Sweaters and pullovers
  • Cardigans
  • Knitted tops
  • Dresses and other knitwear
  • Knitted accessories
  • Custom fiber compositions
  • Yarn count and garment weight
  • Custom colors
  • Gauge and stitch development
  • Jacquard and Intarsia patterns
  • Embroidery and selected specialty crafts
  • Custom measurements and fit
  • Private labels, care labels, hangtags and packaging

Specific yarn compositions and fiber ratios are subject to yarn availability, development requirements and production feasibility.

Sampling & Quality Control

Our typical knitwear sampling time is 7–15 days, depending on yarn availability, knit structure and design complexity.

For blended knitwear, a development sample is particularly useful for evaluating the actual hand feel, weight, drape, knit definition, measurements and overall appearance of the selected yarn composition before bulk production.

Quality control is based on the approved sample and buyer specifications. Where specific performance or testing requirements apply, these should be confirmed before yarn selection and sampling.
