Viscose-Cotton Yarn & Mid-Gauge Development

Viscose-cotton blended yarn can be developed according to the required garment weight, hand feel, drape and surface appearance.

This sweater can be developed in 7GG or 9GG mid-gauge knitting with cable-knit detailing. The finished structure depends on the relationship between fiber composition, yarn count, knitting gauge, stitch density, cable scale and finishing.

Because cable structures can affect fabric contraction, weight and stretch, yarn, gauge and pattern dimensions should be evaluated together during sample development.

V-Collar & Short Sleeve Development

The V-shaped lapel collar creates a different neckline structure from a conventional crewneck or polo sweater and can be adjusted according to the buyer’s design direction.

Development options can include:

  • Collar width
  • Collar depth
  • V-opening depth
  • Collar edge structure
  • Shoulder width
  • Chest and body width
  • Short sleeve length and opening
  • Body length
  • Cable pattern scale
  • Cable placement and repeat
  • Yarn composition and yarn count
  • 7GG or 9GG construction
  • Custom yarn colors
  • Size grading
  • Main labels and care labels
  • Hangtags and packaging

Collar width and V-opening depth should be reviewed together because changes to these dimensions can affect the proportion and visual balance of the neckline.

Cable Pattern Placement & Scale

Cable pattern scale and placement can be adjusted according to the garment dimensions and desired surface appearance.

The number of stitches used in each cable, the spacing between repeats and the relationship between patterned and surrounding knitted areas can influence the finished garment width and visual balance.

For short-sleeve styles, pattern placement should also be coordinated with the shoulder, armhole and sleeve transition so that the cable layout remains balanced across the upper body.

Why Collar & Cable Balance Matters in Short-Sleeve Knitwear

A collared short-sleeve sweater combines several structural elements within a relatively compact upper-body area: the V opening, collar, shoulder line, armhole, sleeve and cable pattern.

If the cable repeat is positioned without considering the collar opening and garment width, the pattern can appear visually unbalanced around the center front or shoulder area.

Cable structures can also contract differently from simpler knitted areas. This means that cable scale, stitch density, collar dimensions and finished garment measurements should be reviewed together rather than developed independently.

During sampling, the neckline should therefore be evaluated together with cable placement, shoulder balance and garment width before bulk specifications are approved.

Fit, Color & Private Label Customization

White and black can be used as reference colors, while alternative yarn colors can be developed according to available yarn cards and project requirements.

Garment measurements, collar dimensions, sleeve proportions and cable pattern scale can be adjusted according to the buyer’s tech pack, reference garment or target size chart.

Private-label options can include custom woven labels, care labels, hangtags and packaging.

Sampling & Quality Control

A development sample is recommended before bulk production to confirm:

  • Yarn and color
  • 7GG or 9GG gauge
  • Cable pattern and placement
  • V-opening dimensions
  • Collar width and shape
  • Shoulder and garment measurements
  • Short sleeve proportions
  • Knit consistency
  • Labels and packaging

Quality control is based on the approved sample and buyer specifications. Inspection points can include garment measurements, cable definition and alignment, collar symmetry, neckline dimensions, sleeve balance, linking and seams, finishing and branding details.
