Wool and wool-blend yarns can be developed according to the required garment weight, warmth, hand feel, stretch and surface appearance.

This sweater can be developed in 7GG or 9GG mid-gauge rib knitting. The finished structure depends on the relationship between fiber composition, yarn count, knitting gauge, rib configuration, stitch density and finishing.

Because rib structures naturally provide stretch and recovery, yarn selection and rib density can influence both the fit of the body and the behavior of the high neckline. These specifications should therefore be evaluated together during sample development.

Collar height and circumference should be evaluated together because increasing height without adjusting the collar structure can change how the neckline stands, folds or sits against the neck.

Dropped Shoulder & Loose Fit Development

The dropped-shoulder construction contributes to the relaxed silhouette and can be adjusted according to the required body proportions.

Shoulder extension, chest width, armhole depth, sleeve length and overall body length should be reviewed together during development. Changing the shoulder position can also affect the apparent sleeve length and the way the upper body drapes.

For this reason, a loose-fit sweater should not be developed simply by increasing chest width. The shoulder position, armhole, sleeve and body measurements should be balanced as a complete silhouette.

Why High-Neck Rib Recovery Matters in Knitwear

A high knitted collar needs sufficient stretch for comfortable dressing while also recovering toward its intended dimensions after being stretched.

Its performance depends on the relationship between yarn elasticity, rib structure, stitch density, collar circumference, collar height and finishing.

If recovery is insufficient, the neckline can gradually lose definition or sit differently from the approved sample. Excessive tension, however, can make the collar feel restrictive and can also influence the surrounding upper-body structure.

During sampling, the collar opening, height, stretch, recovery and finished appearance should therefore be evaluated together before bulk specifications are approved.

Body measurements and proportions can be adjusted according to the buyer’s tech pack, reference garment or target size chart.

Custom yarn colors can be developed according to available yarn cards and project requirements. Yarn composition, color and gauge should be confirmed before sampling where possible because material changes can also affect the appearance and recovery of the rib structure.
