Knitwear Development & Supply Chain Advantages

Knitwear Development Beyond Standard Sourcing

Developing custom knitwear involves more than finding a supplier. Yarn selection, gauge, knit structure, decoration techniques, sampling and production all need to work together.

Wholesaleaprilsu combines product development support with a network of specialized production partners to help fashion brands manage custom knitwear projects from initial specifications through bulk production and quality control.

1. Yarn, Gauge & Knit Structure Development

The construction of a knitted garment starts with the relationship between yarn, gauge and stitch structure.

We support development using common yarn options including Merino wool, cashmere, cotton and wool blends, with commonly used gauges including 3GG, 5GG, 7GG, 12GG and 14GG.

Depending on the design, we can coordinate knit structures and techniques such as:

  • Jacquard
  • Intarsia
  • Cable
  • Pointelle
  • Rib and other knitted structures

The appropriate yarn, gauge and construction are evaluated according to the required weight, hand feel, appearance and design details.

2. Specialty Craft Integration

Some knitwear designs require processes beyond machine knitting. We coordinate specialized production resources for decorative and finishing techniques including:

  • Embroidery
  • Screen printing
  • Digital printing
  • Beading
  • Sequins
  • Crochet
  • Washing and special finishing

These processes are evaluated during development because decoration can affect knit stability, appearance, production method and cost.

For projects combining several techniques, sampling is especially important before bulk production.

3. Sampling Before Bulk Production

Sampling allows the yarn, gauge, measurements, knit structure and decorative details to be evaluated before production begins.

Our typical development schedule is:

Sample development: 7–15 days
Bulk production: 20–35 days

Actual lead times depend on yarn availability, design complexity, specialty craftsmanship and order quantity.

We coordinate sample revisions and production details before moving into bulk manufacturing.

4. Specialized Production Coordination

Different knitwear designs may require different production capabilities.

Rather than presenting every project as coming from one factory, we work with selected production partners according to the technical requirements of each order.

This allows us to coordinate projects involving machine knitting, specialty decoration, crochet, washing and other processes while maintaining one point of communication for the customer.

5. Flexible MOQ for Different Projects

We support two main order models:

Stock programs: from 50 pieces per style
Custom OEM/ODM production: from 200 pieces per style

MOQ may vary depending on yarn requirements, color quantity, gauge, knit structure and specialty decoration.

This structure allows brands to choose between lower-quantity stock customization and fully developed custom knitwear.

6. Quality Control Throughout Production

Quality control is integrated into the production process rather than treated only as a final inspection.

Depending on the project, our checks may cover:

  • Yarn and material confirmation
  • Measurements and specifications
  • Knit construction
  • Color and workmanship
  • Decoration placement and appearance
  • In-process production inspection
  • Final inspection before shipment

Inspection requirements can also be coordinated according to the customer's agreed quality standard.

7. One Team from Development to Export

Our role extends beyond placing an order with a production facility.

We coordinate the key stages between product development, sampling, specialized production, quality control and export preparation, helping customers manage technically detailed knitwear projects through one communication channel.

Whether you are developing a Merino wool sweater, an intarsia design, an embroidered cardigan or a knitwear style combining multiple decorative techniques, the process starts by reviewing the product specifications and identifying the appropriate development route.
