Custom Merino Wool Knitwear OEM/ODM
Custom Merino Wool Knitwear Development
Merino wool is widely used for sweaters, cardigans, knitted tops and accessories where brands want natural wool with a soft hand feel and versatile wearability.
AprilSu supports custom Merino wool knitwear development for fashion brands and private labels, covering yarn selection, gauge planning, knit structure, sizing, sampling, specialty techniques and bulk production coordination.
Projects can be developed from a buyer’s tech pack, reference sample or initial design concept.
Merino Wool Yarn Options
Merino wool yarn is available in different counts, constructions, colors and blends. The appropriate yarn should be selected according to the target garment, gauge, weight, hand feel and price range.
Depending on project requirements and yarn availability, development options can include:
- 100% Merino wool
- Merino wool blends
- Different yarn counts and weights
- Stock or custom colors
- Different hand feels and surface effects
Final yarn specifications and availability are confirmed during development and sampling.
Gauge & Knit Structure Development
Merino wool can be developed across different knitting gauges depending on the required garment structure and appearance.
Our knitwear development capabilities include 3GG, 5GG, 7GG, 12GG and 14GG, allowing projects to range from heavier textured sweaters to finer knitted garments.
Knit structure options can include jersey, rib, cable, textured stitches, Jacquard, Intarsia and other structures according to the design.
Yarn count, gauge and stitch structure should be evaluated together because each can affect garment weight, drape, appearance and measurements.
Custom Merino Wool Knitwear Options
OEM/ODM development can include:
- Sweaters and pullovers
- Cardigans
- Knitted tops
- Dresses and other knitwear
- Scarves, hats and other knitted accessories
- Custom yarn and colors
- Custom measurements and fit
- Jacquard and Intarsia patterns
- Embroidery and selected specialty crafts
- Private labels, care labels, hangtags and packaging
Not every yarn or technique is suitable for every construction, so feasibility is reviewed according to the individual design.
Sampling & Quality Control
Sampling is an important stage in Merino wool knitwear development. Our typical sample lead time is 7–15 days, depending on yarn availability, garment complexity and specialty techniques.
Before bulk production, the sample can be used to confirm yarn, color, gauge, stitch structure, measurements, fit and finishing details.
Bulk quality control is based on the approved sample and buyer specifications, with inspection points determined according to the individual product and project requirements.
