Custom Cotton Knitwear OEM/ODM

Custom Cotton Knitwear Development

Cotton is a versatile yarn option for sweaters, cardigans, knitted tops and accessories, particularly for brands developing lightweight, transitional or everyday knitwear collections.

AprilSu supports custom cotton knitwear development for fashion brands and private labels, covering yarn selection, gauge planning, knit structure, sizing, sampling, specialty techniques and bulk production coordination.

Projects can be developed from a buyer’s tech pack, reference sample or initial design concept.

Cotton & Organic Cotton Yarn Options

Cotton knitwear can be developed using different yarn counts, constructions and fiber combinations according to the required garment weight, hand feel, appearance and target price.

Depending on project requirements and yarn availability, development options can include:

  • Conventional cotton
  • Organic cotton
  • Cotton-blend yarns
  • Different yarn counts and weights
  • Stock or custom colors
  • Different textures and surface effects

Organic cotton yarn options are available for selected projects. Specific fiber composition, yarn specifications and sourcing requirements should be confirmed during development.

Final yarn selection is based on the individual design, gauge, stitch structure and required garment characteristics.

Gauge & Knit Structure Development

Cotton yarn can be developed across different knitting gauges depending on yarn count and the required garment structure.

Our knitwear development capabilities include 3GG, 5GG, 7GG, 12GG and 14GG, supporting styles ranging from heavier textured knitwear to finer and lighter knitted garments.

Knit structure options can include jersey, rib, cable, textured stitches, Jacquard, Intarsia, pointelle and other structures according to the design.

Yarn count, gauge and stitch structure should be evaluated together because these factors affect garment weight, drape, appearance and finished measurements.

Custom Cotton Knitwear Options

OEM/ODM development can include:

  • Cotton sweaters and pullovers
  • Cardigans
  • Knitted tops
  • Polo and collared knitwear
  • Dresses and other knitwear
  • Knitted accessories
  • Custom yarn composition and colors
  • Custom measurements and fit
  • Jacquard and Intarsia patterns
  • Embroidery, printing and selected specialty crafts
  • Private labels, care labels, hangtags and packaging

Not every yarn or specialty technique is suitable for every cotton knit structure. Feasibility is reviewed according to the individual design and selected yarn.

Sampling & Quality Control

Sampling is an important stage in cotton knitwear development. Our typical sample lead time is 7–15 days, depending on yarn availability, garment complexity and specialty techniques.

The development sample can be used to confirm yarn, color, gauge, stitch structure, measurements, fit and finishing before bulk production.

Quality control is based on the approved sample and buyer specifications. Inspection points are determined according to the selected yarn, garment construction and individual project requirements.

Where specific shrinkage, colorfastness or other performance requirements apply, these should be confirmed before sampling so that appropriate yarn, construction and testing requirements can be evaluated for the project.
