Women’s High Neck Cape Sweater

Style Number: WBL-AW25144

This women’s high neck cape sweater combines a poncho-style silhouette with a textured cable-knit pattern and relaxed drape. The wider cape construction creates a distinctive alternative to a conventional sweater body and can be developed for contemporary womenswear and private-label knitwear collections.

OEM/ODM development is available with customization covering viscose-cotton yarn, 7GG–9GG gauge, cable pattern, cape dimensions, high-neck proportions, colors, labels and packaging.

Viscose-Cotton Yarn & Mid-Gauge Development

Viscose-cotton blended yarn can be developed according to the required garment weight, drape, hand feel and surface appearance.

This cape sweater uses a 7GG–9GG mid-gauge construction with cable-knit detailing. The final appearance depends on the relationship between fiber composition, yarn count, knitting gauge, stitch density, cable dimensions and garment proportions.

Because cable structures consume and redistribute yarn differently from plain jersey structures, changing the cable scale or repeat can influence fabric width, weight, stretch and drape. Yarn, gauge and cable pattern should therefore be evaluated together during sampling.

Cape Sweep & Poncho Silhouette Development

Unlike a conventional sweater with a clearly defined body and sleeve structure, a cape or poncho-style garment relies on the width and shape of the knitted body to create its silhouette.

Development options can include:

  • Overall cape width / sweep
  • Body length
  • Side drop
  • Shoulder positioning
  • Arm opening dimensions
  • High-neck height and circumference
  • Cable placement and repeat
  • Yarn composition and yarn count
  • 7GG or 9GG construction
  • Stitch density
  • Custom yarn colors
  • Size specifications
  • Main labels and care labels
  • Hangtags and packaging

Cape width, body length and side drop should be reviewed together because changes in these measurements can significantly alter the overall proportion and drape of the garment.

Cable Pattern & High-Neck Development

Cable scale, spacing and placement can be adjusted according to the buyer’s design direction and the available knitting construction.

Larger cable structures can create stronger surface definition but can also influence fabric contraction and garment dimensions. Smaller or more widely spaced cable elements can produce a different balance between texture and drape.

The high neckline should also be developed in relation to the selected yarn and knit structure. Collar height, circumference, stitch density and recovery can be adjusted during sampling according to the intended appearance and comfort requirements.

Why Cable Placement Matters on Cape Knitwear

On a conventional sweater, cable patterns are generally developed within defined front, back or sleeve panels. A cape or poncho-style silhouette creates a wider knitted surface, so pattern placement, repeat size and garment dimensions become particularly important.

If a cable repeat is not coordinated with the cape width, the pattern may terminate unevenly at the edges or appear visually unbalanced across the garment.

Cable structures can also contract differently from surrounding knitted areas. This means that cable width, repeat, stitch density, yarn properties and cape dimensions should be evaluated together rather than treating the pattern as a purely decorative element.

During sampling, pattern symmetry and placement should therefore be checked across the full cape structure together with finished width, length and drape before bulk specifications are approved.

Color, Dimensions & Private Label Customization

Beige and light gray can be used as reference colors, while alternative yarn colors can be developed according to available yarn cards and project requirements.

Cape width, body length, neckline dimensions and pattern proportions can be adjusted according to the buyer’s tech pack or reference design.

Private-label options can include custom woven labels, care labels, hangtags and packaging.

Sampling & Quality Control

A development sample is recommended before bulk production to confirm:

  • Yarn and color
  • 7GG or 9GG gauge
  • Cable pattern and repeat
  • Cape width and body length
  • Side drop and overall proportions
  • High-neck dimensions
  • Pattern placement and symmetry
  • Labels and packaging

Quality control is based on the approved sample and buyer specifications. Inspection points can include garment dimensions, knit consistency, cable definition, pattern alignment, neckline dimensions, linking and seams, finishing and branding details.

Viscose Cotton Blend

Viscose-cotton blended yarn combines characteristics of both fibers for custom knitwear development. Blend ratio, yarn count, gauge and knit structure should be selected according to the required weight, drape, stretch, hand feel and surface appearance.

Mid-Gauge (7GG - 9GG)

Mid-gauge 7GG and 9GG knitting for versatile medium-weight knitwear. Suitable for sweaters, cardigans, dresses and accessories, with yarn selection, stitch structure and knit density adjusted according to the required weight, texture and drape.

Classic Cable-Knit Pattern

Cable-knit construction created by crossing groups of stitches to form raised braided or twisted textures. Cable definition, scale and garment weight depend on yarn thickness, knitting gauge, stitch density and pattern repeat.
